The 2025 International ITS Symposium is to be held in October, 2025 and co-hosted by China Highway & Transportation Society (CHTS) and International Road Federation (IRF). The Symposium will focus and discuss the forward-looking and critical new technologies and practices in ITS, as digital transformation, autonomous driving, mobility services, traffic safety, green and low-carbon initiatives, vehicle-road-cloud integration, transportation-energy integration, and low-altitude transportation etc. To promptly summarize the most recent research achievements and guide theoretical innovation and academic research, we are currently calling for papers from across the globe and the topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
1. Development, Policies and Planning of ITS
ITS’s development history, current situation, issues and trends of smart transportation; ITS’s policies, standards, guarantee mechanisms and plans, new transportation infrastructure, energy conservation and emission reduction, sustainable development, and comprehensive three - dimensional transportation systems; Research on ITS industrial development, smart highways, urban intelligent transportation etc.; Industrial application and commercialization management of autonomous driving technology.
2. Innovative Application of “AI+” Emerging Transportation Technologies
Breakthroughs and applications of vehicle-road-cloud integration and cloud-edge-end collaboration, multi-sensor fusion and IoT sensing technologies, edge computing and cloud computing, big data analysis and mining, 5G, C-V2X and satellite communication technologies, high - precision positioning, digital twin and blockchain, AI-enabled collaborative awareness and decision-making, “AI+” communication and data network, AI-driven system simulation and precision control breakthroughs and applications, and related technologies for ITS.
3. Infrastructure’s Intelligent Upgrading
Infrastructure’s (highway, bridge, tunnel, port, and station) digitalization and intelligent operation and maintenance; Real - time monitoring of structures and decision - making on maintenance and management; Monitoring of tunnel environment and safety, intelligent ventilation and lighting, and optimization of emergency rescue systems; Automated unloading equipment and intelligent operation scheduling in stations and ports; Intelligent perception system of urban transportation infrastructure; Intelligent transportation infrastructure for both peacetime and emergency use.
4. Traffic Management and Decision-Making Support
Real-time monitoring, data analysis, strategy formulation, decision-making models, and law enforcement management in ITS environment, including real-time traffic monitoring and data collection through multi-source data collection and dynamic information perception; Traffic data analysis and mining; Intelligent traffic management methods and systems as intelligent traffic signal control, traffic congestion alleviation, electronic payment, and free - flow systems. Law enforcement and supervision in ITS.
5. Optimization of Mobility Services
Use ITS technologies to enhance the travel and mobility experience and this includes building urban traffic brain system, intelligent navigation, personalized travel and mobility planning, innovation in shared-mobility service models, demand-responsive public transportation services, elderly-friendly and barrier-free mobility, and the intelligent and rapid commuting system for public transportation in metropolitan areas, so as to meet the diverse needs of different travel groups.
6. Intelligent Logistics’ Transportation
Intelligent delivery, the application of vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology in highway and urban logistics transportation, intelligent scheduling and route planning, intelligent vehicle management, also innovation and optimization of urban last-mile delivery.
7. Safety and Emergency Management
Ensure the safe and stable operation of the transportation system, reduce accident risks, and enhance the ability to respond to emergencies, including safety monitoring and early warning, emergency response procedures, rescue technologies, and resource management etc.
8. Green and Sustainable Transport Development
ITS’ crucial role in conserving energy, cutting emissions, and reducing environmental pollution and this involves green energy’s application, green travel model’s promotion, green transportation facilities’construction, and transportation carbon emissions’ management, all of which contribute to green travel and drive the sustainable development of the transportation industry. Additionally, there is the integrated intelligent management and control of the integration of transportation and energy.
9. Low-Altitude Transportation Management and Application
The reform of the low-altitude airspace management regime and operational mechanisms, along with the strategies for fostering the development of general aviation and administering the low-altitude economy. The layout planning of the low-altitude infrastructure network, as well as the Research and Development and implementation of application scenarios such as low-altitude aerial mobility (LAM) for travel and express logistics. Pioneering research on inter-city low-altitude air taxi services for passengers and air cargo transportation.
Submission Guidelines
Authors please read this carefully. Failure to do so will quite possibly result in long delays in processing your paper.
1. All papers submitted must be in response to the topics above mentioned and “At large” submissions will NOT be accepted.
2. Submitted papers must be innovative with scientific, academic, and theoretical value.
3. Both unpublished and published papers are acceptable, where unpublished papers can be submitted either as full-text or as extended abstract. Full-text submissions must be genuine and original, and no any significant overlap with published papers, papers submitted to other journals or conferences, or papers currently under review.
5. For full-text paper, it should preferably be within 7 pages and no more than 5000 words and for a extended abstract submission, it should be about 1000 words. Published papers must be submitted as a extended abstract, and the information about their previous publication must be clearly noted.
6. All submission should not include any classified information and authors are accountable for the content.
7. Submission either in Chinese or English is accepted.
